As a key contributor to our accounting and financial reporting cycle, you'll be responsible for performing end-of-period close activities, facilitating process efficiencies, and upholding strong internal control practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and post month-, quarter-, and year-end close process journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and reconciliations for subsidiaries.
- Prepare supporting documentation, ensuring completeness, mathematical accuracy, and adherence to accounting policies.
- Assist with trial balance reviews, preparing variance analyses, and commentary.
- Recommend, document, implement, and maintain improvements to the close cycles and related processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Own the accounting processes within Workday, implementing customization decisions and content releases.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand and support business processes, upholding best accounting and internal control practices.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing working papers to respond to audit requests.
- Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives, including M&A, integrations, reorganizations, and automation opportunities.
- Prepare financial ratio calculations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare GST/HST returns.
- University undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting.
- Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent) or close to completion.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Intellectually curious and motivated.
- Collaborative and works cross-functionally.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Highly organized, with time management skills and attention to detail.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with general ledger or accounting systems such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP.
- Solid understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards, including ability to apply accounting principles to new scenarios/transactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
