About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Autobus la Diligence inc. as a Bus Mechanic - Equipment Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain school buses to ensure they are safe and reliable for transportation.
  • Perform road tests to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Complete detailed mechanical maintenance reports and work orders to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform paint and finishing repairs to restore buses to their original condition.
  • Follow-up on the Preventive Maintenance Program (PMP) to ensure all buses are properly maintained.
  • Compile parts lists for repairs and keep inventory up to date to optimize maintenance efficiency.
  • Monitor warranties to ensure all repairs are covered and completed in a timely manner.
  • Issue parts release slips on work orders to facilitate the repair process.
  • Organize the workshop, including equipment and storage, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Research technical documentation to stay up-to-date on the latest maintenance procedures and best practices.
  • Clean work and wash areas to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Install radio, camera, and GPS equipment on new vehicles to ensure they are properly equipped.
  • Detect mechanical problems and take corrective action to prevent further damage.

Requirements

  • DEP in heavy vehicle mechanics or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of diesel mechanics and Cummins, Allison, Wabco, and Outlook software.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic brakes and transmission and engine diagnostics.
  • Possession of a PEP card and a valid Canadian work permit.
  • Valid Class 5 license.

Qualifications

  • Good attendance and punctuality.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good spatial perception and attention to detail.
  • Initiative and a sense of responsibility.
