Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Michael Page International Canada Limited. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for managing multiple tenders and overseeing all aspects of the estimate and preparation for closing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review drawings and specifications to identify divisions of work and clarify location and document discrepancies.
  2. Study plans and specifications to confirm site visits and arrange attendance.
  3. Organise plans and specifications for display, distribution, and posting on our website.
  4. Complete pre-bid forms and set up summary sheets.
  5. Fill out bonding and insurance requests and submissions.
  6. Prepare sub-trade request lists for estimating assistants.
  7. Solicit bidders, prepare sub-trade request lists for distribution, and note special trades to be personally called.
  8. Listing of special materials and calling for prices.
  9. Deal with RFI's internally and from sub-trades and log.

This role requires a strong understanding of division 2 (30) and division 3 scope of work and estimating. The ability to read and understand soils and designated substance reports is essential.

The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct cut and fill take-offs, excavation backfill, site servicing, and formwork and concrete quantities and pricing. They will also be able to work on unit-rate tenders and perform take-offs in direct relation to units.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements
  1. Engineering or construction management degree, technical college diploma, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  2. At least 5+ years of preconstruction/estimating experience on large-scale projects (preferably ICI focus).
  3. Proven experience estimating on multiple high-value projects.
  4. Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Project.
  5. The proven ability to successfully manage a tender call.
  6. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling, and safety requirements.

A basic salary of up to $140,000 (depending upon experience), excellent bonus/profit share scheme, RRSP matching, health/dental benefits.
