About the Role



Dalhousie University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Workplace Investigator to join its Internal Audit Services team. This specialist role involves conducting independent investigations into reports of human rights discrimination, sexualized violence, and workplace harassment and bullying.



Key Responsibilities



  • Investigate reports submitted under Dalhousie's policies and procedures, utilizing a survivor-centric and trauma-informed approach.
  • Develop investigation plans, identify sources of evidence, collect digital evidence, conduct party and witness interviews, and prepare final investigation reports.
  • Maintain complete records of all investigation activities and compile an annual report on investigation activities.


Required Qualifications



  1. A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as human rights or jurisprudence, with 3-5 years of experience conducting investigations in large, complex organizations.
  2. A strong knowledge base in Nova Scotia Human Rights Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Accessibility Act, and related policies.
  3. In-depth knowledge of emerging human rights issues, including unconscious bias, cultural competency, systemic racism, marginalization, power dynamics, and complaints resolution.
  4. Knowledge and competency in conducting trauma-informed investigations and exceptional interviewing skills.

The estimated salary for this role is $85,000-$105,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.



Work Environment



This position requires working on campus and will involve interacting with diverse stakeholders, including survivors of sexualized violence. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
