Environmental Compliance Specialist

About the Role
The City of Coquitlam is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our Environment team within the Engineering and Public Works department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of environmental protection and pollution prevention programs
- Manage the City's real-time water quality monitoring program
- Investigate issues and enforce environmental bylaws related to stream and drainage protection, water conservation, and pesticide use
- Recommend protective measures and improvements to reduce and control environmental impacts related to development activities, construction issues, businesses, and residential properties
- Investigate related complaints and enforce relevant bylaws
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, environmental management, resource management, or a related field
- Minimum of three years' related experience and sound knowledge and experience in water quality sampling, testing, and monitoring equipment
- Erosion and Sediment Control (BC-CESCL) certification through the Erosion Sediment Control Association of British Columbia
- Valid BC Driver's License, or equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions
- Excellent public education and interpersonal skills
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Experience in data recording/entry and mapping
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
