About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our People & Culture Team as a People & Culture Assistant. This summer student position offers the ideal opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional HR experiences and want to work in a fast-paced environment.



Key Responsibilities


  • Assist with the recruitment process by creating job postings, scheduling phone, video, and in-person interviews with hiring managers;
  • Perform a range of administrative duties, often involving confidential material;
  • Assist with preparing and developing HR correspondence, including employment verification letters and other employee correspondence;
  • Act as a front-line resource for all employee inquiries and actively manage the HR mailbox and assign/forward correspondence to the appropriate team member;
  • Responsible for the maintenance of employment records in the HRIS, ensuring complete accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with by-laws and other regulatory bodies;
  • Act as a minute taker at Labour Management Committee meetings;
  • Responsible for all HR filing as needed;
  • Participate in the OH&S Committee as the P&C representative;


Requirements


  • A minimum of one year's post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field of study;
  • One year's experience in Human Resources;
  • One year's experience in an office environment;
  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Management Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems;
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills;
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
  • Computer literacy in PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, email, and internet applications, including Zoom;
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, adaptable, and exercises good judgment;


Preference


  • CPHR or working towards designation;
  • Experience within a unionized environment;
  • A second language.
