SickKids Foundation is seeking a seasoned corporate lawyer to join our team as Director, Legal. As a key member of our leadership team, you will provide strategic legal advice and support to our Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a strong understanding of corporate and commercial law. Your expertise will be essential in supporting our risk management initiatives, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, and providing guidance on intellectual property matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide general legal advice and consultation to all levels of the Foundation, including the Board of Directors and senior management.
  2. Draft and negotiate agreements related to corporate and commercial activities, including contracts, memoranda of understanding, and other legal documents.
  3. Support risk management initiatives by identifying and mitigating potential risks, and developing strategies to minimize exposure.
  4. Ensure compliance with privacy regulations by implementing and maintaining effective data protection policies and procedures.
  5. Provide guidance on intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademark, and patent law.
  6. Assist with policy development by drafting and reviewing policies related to corporate governance, risk management, and compliance.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer.
