Job Summary

The Electrical Systems Specialist role is crucial for production, focusing on electrical troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, calibrations, and GMP activities to ensure SISPQ and machine integrity.

This position requires technical expertise to train and teach proper operations procedures, ensuring equipment longevity and improving reliability through production projects and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain predictive and preventative maintenance programs for material handling/production/process/development equipment, ensuring SISPQ compliance.
  • Initiate and execute production maintenance projects, including OQs, electrical upgrades, and improvements.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic equipment, instrumentation, and computerized systems related to production machinery and systems, adhering to CSA and ESA standards.
  • Diagnose problems using electrical testing equipment.
  • Practice proactive maintenance and contribute to resolving problems before they cause downtime issues.
  • Supply training and coaching on equipment as needed, with the ability to travel for training if necessary.
  • Take ownership and accountability for issues, working proactively to resolve them and maximize department goals by minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Ensure clear communication of issues, follow-up actions, and resolutions to peers, vendors, customers, and supervisors.
  • Be a team player, contributing positively and suggesting ideas to improve the business.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Effectively use the SAP maintenance module to search history, create work orders, find parts, and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Create and modify drawings, P&IDs, and schematics when required.
  • Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard documents (SDs).
  • Work as part of a team to achieve all outcomes.
  • Perform all work in support of our Corporate Values: Pride, Accountability, Integrity, and Diligence, demonstrating strong support of our values.
  • Adhere to established regulatory and compliance requirements and safety protocols.
  • All other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • A valid Ontario Industrial Electrician license (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician License (309A) is required for this role, or the candidate must expect to be licensed within 3 months.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic and electrical control systems in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • An Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Technician or Technologist Diploma is an asset.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley SLC500 Programmable Logic Controllers using RS Logix500 software is beneficial, along with extensive knowledge of Omron, Siemens Simatic 7, Klockner Muller, and Toshiba PLCs.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Self-motivation and willingness to learn new skills are essential.
