Community Developer Position

Legal Aid Ontario is seeking a skilled Community Developer to join our team. As a Community Developer, you will play a key role in engaging with Ottawa's low-income communities, identifying emerging issues, and developing effective responses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community initiatives, collaborating with legal clinic staff and community partners
  • Identify and prioritize community needs, and develop strategies to address them
  • Build and maintain relationships with community agencies, organizations, and stakeholders
  • Provide information, advice, and resources to community members
  • Develop programs, events, and materials to promote community engagement and education
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of students and volunteers
  • Stay up-to-date with the legal clinic's areas of practice and delivery of services
Requirements:
  • Minimum three years of experience with community-based organizations
  • Superior skills in community engagement, outreach, partnership, and group development
  • Strong knowledge of community services in Ottawa
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and experience with social media
  • Capacity to work in French is preferred
