Position Overview:

Legal Aid Ontario is seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Specialist to enhance their outreach efforts. In this role, you will focus on fostering community development, organizing initiatives, and conducting outreach activities aimed at addressing critical challenges faced by low-income populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement community programs in partnership with staff and stakeholders
  • Recognize and respond to emerging community challenges
  • Establish and nurture connections with local organizations and the community
  • Support funding proposals and offer strategic insights
  • Develop resources, events, and programs tailored for community needs
  • Engage in advocacy and reform initiatives
  • Compile reports on community-focused projects
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and oversight of volunteers and students
Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years' experience with community-focused organizations
  • Proven skills in community outreach and group facilitation
  • Experience working with marginalized populations and equity-seeking groups
  • Familiarity with community resources available in the region
  • Strong collaborative skills and excellent verbal and written communication
  • Competence in social media and technology
  • Proficiency in French is an asset
