Job Summary

This is a temporary part-time position that will collaborate closely with the interprofessional care team in providing daily care within a supportive role through a therapeutic focus. The Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Clinical Extern will work under the supervision of a regulated health care professional and will have the opportunity to develop important clinical skills while increasing their knowledge of a hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient mobility, positioning, repositioning, transfers, and ambulation.
  • Assist with PT/OT assigned treatment plans with a functional and/or therapeutic exercise focus.
  • Assist with patient care and support the delivery of efficient and effective unit working environment.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and support social and leisure interaction activities.
Qualifications
  • Proof of current enrollment in an accredited PT or OT graduate degree program.
  • Bachelors degree in health-related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
