Crisis Response Navigator

The Crisis Response Navigator will play a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health and substance use-related crises in the Comox Valley. This position will be part of the AVI Health and Community Services Crisis Response Team, working closely with community members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to provide timely and effective support.
Key Responsibilities- Crisis Response and Intervention: The Crisis Response Navigator will be responsible for responding to crisis calls, providing emotional support, and connecting individuals with community resources and services.
- Assessment and Triage: The Crisis Response Navigator will conduct thorough assessments of individuals in crisis, determining the level of risk and developing a plan for support and intervention.
- Community Resource Connection: The Crisis Response Navigator will connect individuals with community resources, including mental health services, substance use treatment, and other support services.
- Collaboration and Communication: The Crisis Response Navigator will work closely with community members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Documentation and Reporting: The Crisis Response Navigator will maintain accurate and timely documentation of crisis responses, including assessment, intervention, and follow-up activities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, counseling, or psychology.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health and substance use support, crisis response, and community outreach.
- Certifications and Training: Crisis intervention training, mental health first aid, and substance use treatment certification.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
- Competitive Salary: $33.99/hour to start, with stepped increases based on seniority.
- Flexible Scheduling: Casual shifts, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with mandatory training schedule in October.
