Dietary Aide Job Description

Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Dietary Aide to join our team. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our food services area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Utilize and operate technical support systems to ensure efficient food service delivery.
  • Patient Service and Food Preparation: Perform activities related to patient service and food preparation, including meal delivery and food handling.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitary food services area, including equipment and facilities.
  • Catering and Continuing Education: Provide catering services as required and participate in relevant continuing education sessions to enhance your skills.
  • Ware Washing and Equipment Operation: Operate equipment in a safe and sanitary condition, and perform ware washing and small wares equipment duties.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Work collaboratively with other team members, participate in decision-making processes, and apply interpersonal skills to support the hospital's mission and values.
  • Safety and Infection Prevention: Ensure patient safety and infection prevention and control relating to the position.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Rotate activities within the Food Service Area as scheduled and be flexible in your work assignments.
Qualifications:
  • Food Handlers Certificate: Current Food Handlers Certificate is required.
  • Education and Experience: Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required, and Food Service Worker certificate or enrollment in a program is an asset.
  • Physical Demands: Able to perform heavy lifting, repetitive motions, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Attendance and Work Ethic: Demonstrated excellent attendance record and work ethic.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer software programs is required.
  • Confidentiality and Privacy: Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to privacy and confidentiality.

Other Conditions: Must be available to work all shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays. Salary is per the UNIFOR collective agreement ($27.34 per hour to $28.02 per hour).
