Senior Staff Software Engineer

This is a senior technical position equivalent to a senior manager. We require advanced enterprise solutions architecture design, technical system design, and hands-on software development.

As a Solution Architect at Capital One Software Studio, you will orchestrate the creation of technology solutions that align with our business goals. For new projects, you will closely work with business partners to create sound business architectures. By day's end, you will have contributed to solutions and strategies that will shape our future, ensuring that all solutions are not only innovative but also follow our architectural and security standards.

We help people take control of their credit in various ways:

  • Helping customers view and monitor their credit scores with Credit Keeper

We're leaders in the adoption of open source, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers. We build our own products and release them quickly, allowing us to get new customer experiences to market quickly. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing architectural solutions that align with Capital One Canada's business goals and adhere to our architectural framework
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive catalog of technical and business capabilities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
  • Leading the creation and review of Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) and High-Level Design (HLD) documents
  • Actively participating in governance forums such as the Architectural Review Board, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards
  • Mentoring and leading teams in the adoption of architectural best practices and continuous improvement initiatives

To be successful, you will need:

  • At least 8 years of experience in Software Engineering and Systems Architecture or Technology Solution design
  • Certification in TOGAF, AWS, or other relevant architectural frameworks
  • At least 2 years of experience creating solutions architectures in a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

The estimated salary for this role is around $140,000 per year, based on industry standards and the location of the job.
