The Indigenous Hospital Liaison role is a vital part of Alberta Health Services' commitment to improving the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples in Alberta.

As an Indigenous Healthcare Advocate, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between healthcare services and the unique needs of Indigenous patients and families.

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual who possesses a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives. You will be responsible for:

  • Advocating for Indigenous patients and families through consultation and support
  • Providing healthcare navigation to assist patients and families in making informed decisions
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary hospital staff to ensure culturally safe and respectful care
  • Fostering relationships with patients and families to promote trust and respect
  • Providing referral support to connect patients and families to culturally safe and traditional healing resources and services

You will work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies that address the specific needs of Indigenous patients and families. Your knowledge and experience in Indigenous cultural protocols and practices will be essential in providing guidance and recommendations to our healthcare teams.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a diploma or certificate from an accredited health-related program in a regulated profession (e.g., Social Work, Licensed Practical Nurse). Previous experience in a healthcare setting or human services field is also preferred.

In addition to your technical skills and knowledge, you will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and respect for the diversity of Indigenous populations and communities
  • Knowledge of Indigenous history, worldview, perspectives, beliefs/values, culture, and traditions
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
