Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Almag Aluminum.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, managing, and improving all health and safety programs across the company. This includes acting as a point of contact for all safety-related inquiries and incidents, coordinating the application of health and safety programs, and driving the implementation of related policies and programs.
This role requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and spoken, as well as a good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and additional governing health and safety laws, regulations, and standards.
Responsibilities- Implement and Manage Health and Safety Programs: Develop, implement, and manage health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Act as a Point of Contact: Provide guidance and support on safety-related matters, including responding to incidents and ensuring prompt corrective action is taken.
- Coordinate Training and Development: Coordinate and schedule third-party training programs, create in-house health and safety training programs, and maintain employee training records and certifications.
- Review and Update Policies and Procedures: Review and update policies, procedures, and related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A post-secondary certificate or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety;
- Joint Health and Safety Committee certification, manufacturing, an asset;
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Occupational Health and Safety;
- Experience developing and delivering training programs;
- A good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and additional governing health and safety laws, regulations, and standards;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and spoken;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite required.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including:
- An estimated annual salary of $85,000-$110,000 based on location and experience;
