Key Responsibilities

The Senior Development Technologist will oversee forest development initiatives, including:

  • Implementing forestry plans and conducting road/cutblock engineering.
  • Performing ecological assessments and preparing related plans and reports.
  • Collaborating with foresters, technicians, and other professionals.
  • Engaging in both fieldwork and office tasks.
Core Duties
  • Act as a key specialist within the forest development team.
  • Provide expertise on projects ranging from small cutting permits to large-scale woodland management programs.
  • Assist in cruise compilations and timber appraisals.
  • Ensure compliance with stewardship requirements for forest development in British Columbia.
  • Offer support for forest development planning and operations.
  • Operate off-road vehicles, including 4x4 trucks, ATVs, and snowmobiles.
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of forestry practices and operational planning.
  • Safety-conscious approach to work.
  • Post-secondary education in forestry or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in forest harvesting and development practices.
  • Experience collaborating with government entities, First Nations, and stakeholders.
  • Registration with the FPBC as a professional forester (RPF) or forest technologist (RFT) is an asset.
