Job Summary

Tangerine is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Director to lead the development of external and internal corporate communications strategy, overall narrative, and PR to support Tangerine's strategic goals, brand positioning, employee engagement, and the protection of Tangerine's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing external and internal communications strategies that drive the CEO's leadership profile, Tangerine's brand, culture, and strategic positioning.
  • Creating and supporting an inspirational communications environment, finding creative ways to connect employees with the organization's purpose, goals, and strategy through impactful and inspiring storytelling and using innovative communication techniques.
  • Protecting Tangerine's brand/reputation and providing effective cross-functional leadership in any crisis situation. Identifying challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization.
  • Partnering with HR and leadership on strategies to equip leaders with the skills they need to drive dialogue and engage employees.
  • Liaising with Scotiabank ESG team(s) to execute on programs including philanthropic donations and community involvement.
  • Bringing your expertise to various change initiatives and bring effective internal communications to life to help employees be informed.
  • Work with the Tangerine Management team to develop executive profiles, laddering to the Tangerine brand and promoting visibility, externally and internally.
  • Work collaboratively with communications and marketing teams, as appropriate, on bank-wide editorial calendars and timing.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of professional communications experience with a proven track record of outstanding results.
  • A minimum of 3 years of people and project management experience with direct reports.
  • University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent experience in Communications.
  • Solid understanding of communication theory and best practices.
  • Advanced writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • A strategic understanding of channels in relation to internal and external communications needs.
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity and tight deadlines while working effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
