Audit and Governance Expert is required to oversee the application of and compliance with audit and accounting standards, as well as provide professional practice support to our engagements. The role will also involve operational oversight to our system of quality management under the framework of CSQM 1 and CSQM 2.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Act as Head of the Learning & Development department
  • Perform and oversee EQR process (Engagement Quality Review)
  • Operational responsibility for the System of Quality Management (SOQM)
  • Perform annual internal monitoring and testing of compliance with the Firm's System of Quality Management
  • Lead the assessment and response to new accounting standards, ensuring thorough communication and documentation across the organization
  • Provide education and implementation strategies on new Accounting and Audit Standards
  • Oversee and assist with engagement performance policy and procedure development
  • Coordinate and communicate changes to engagement templates, training, and standards across the firm
  • Act as Firm liaison for triennial Baker Tilly peer reviews and CPA Ontario practice inspections

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Technical skills: management of audit engagements, experience with internal audit, experience with corporate governance, experience with design and testing of internal controls
  • Qualifications & Attributes: experience in an accounting role at a public accounting firm, ≥7 years experience in accounting, with a focus on compliance and financial reporting, strong analytical skills, ability to deliver responsibilities and make decisions with minimal direct supervision, sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters, ability to take initiative for own learning and development
