Job Title: Registered Nurse

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking two (2) full-time, permanent Registered Nurses to join the Crisis and Critical Care (CCC) program.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse on CCC-3, you will provide holistic client-centred psychiatric nursing care to clients experiencing the acute phase of a mental and/or addictions disorder. You will work with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, participate in reflective practice sessions, facilitate group programming, and provide mentorship and supervision to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
  • Monitor, assess, and document client responses to pharmaceutical interventions, mental health and substance-related disorders, trauma-responsive behaviours, and mental status and physical health assessments
  • Develop knowledge and skills in trauma-informed care, culturally competent care, crisis intervention, mental health and addiction diagnoses, and treatment modalities
  • Facilitate group programming and develop group facilitation skills
Requirements
  • Be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is required
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess, or are currently pursuing, a BSCN and/or CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Prior experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset
  • Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required
  • Computer literacy is required
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset
