Ontario Health is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as a Specialist, Organ and Tissue Donation. This exciting opportunity will allow you to make a significant impact in the lives of patients and their families.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to lead the donation process, from donor identification to organ recovery. As a Specialist, Organ and Tissue Donation, you will work closely with healthcare teams to ensure the safe and efficient donation process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical assessments and evaluations to determine donor suitability
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to establish approach plans with donor families
  • Facilitate communication with healthcare teams and provide updates on the donation process
  • Support the healthcare team by requesting resources for tests and procedures
  • Recover past medical history from multiple sources to determine medical suitability
  • Negotiate OR resources to support donor organ recovery surgery
  • Identify issues for follow-up and quality control to ensure the safety of the organ and tissue supply
Requirements
  • Nursing Diploma and/or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum three years critical care and/or relevant organ and tissue donation experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
