Health Care Assistant

The Health Care Aide (HCA) is a vital member of our care team, providing holistic and quality care to our residents. Reporting to the Director of Care, the HCA is responsible for delivering person-centered care, maintaining resident dignity, and ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team.
- Provide personal care services, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and assisting with meals and oral hygiene.
- Respond to resident call bells and alarms, and monitor their progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
- Utilize proper safety protocols when operating mechanical aids, such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Assist with lifting and transferring residents, following established lifting and safety techniques.
- Provide nutritional assistance, including meal service and tray management.
- Encourage resident participation in food service and clean-up.
- Perform laundry services for residents' personal clothing.
- Involve residents in organizing and maintaining their living environment.
- Attend and participate in community and education programs.
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Graduate from a recognized Care Aide program.
- Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate and Medication Administration Certification are assets.
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility is an asset.
- Demonstrates ability to provide compassionate and empathetic care.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check.
- Must be in good health and physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required.
