Job Description
The Clinical Operations Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of hospital and Apotex Long Term Care Home facilities outside regular business hours. Reporting directly to the Clinical Manager, Support Teams and Operations, you will provide leadership and decision-making support to clinical and operational teams. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure timely transfers, quality of care, and appropriate staffing levels across both facilities. You will work closely with staff during scheduled after-hours shifts, actively round through clinical areas to ensure compliance with organization policies and procedures, and authorize and optimize staff resources as needed. Additionally, you will promote a patient-centered care approach, foster a positive climate among staff, and provide support in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site management and escalation support during after-hours shifts
- Manage overall operations to ensure timely transfers, quality of care, and adequate staffing levels
- Complete active rounding through clinical areas to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
- Authorize and optimize staff resources, including replacement and reassignment as needed
- Promote a patient-centered care approach and engage interprofessional teams in addressing patient concerns
- Foster a positive climate among staff and provide support in problem-solving and conflict resolution
Qualifications
- Current membership in good standing with a Regulated Health Discipline Professional College in Ontario
- Baccalaureate Degree with a Master's Degree achieved or evidence of a Master's Degree in progress
- Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Significant experience in the hospital and long-term care sector, with at least 3 years of progressive leadership experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills
- Highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions with initiative and judgment
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Knowledge of computer applications and industry information systems (Meditech, Point Click Care)
- Familiarity with collective agreements, legislation provisions, and labor relations
