We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in Microbiology. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing and interpreting various tests, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Microscopic Interpretation: Perform and provide microscopic interpretation of gram stains, TB stains, and other differentiating stains.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain microbiology analyzers and equipment to ensure accurate results and efficient workflow.
- Infection Control Surveillance: Identify, interpret, and report significant findings from infection control surveillance swabs and clinical specimens.
- Blood Cultures and Rapid Diagnostic Kits: Demonstrate knowledge and experience with blood cultures, rapid diagnostic kits, and PCR.
- Reporting and Validation: Report significant findings and reportable diseases to healthcare providers and validate inventory, supplies, and new products.
- Biohazard Waste Disposal: Dispose of biohazard waste according to established protocols.
- Certification and Registration: Possess a Medical Laboratory Technologist certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
- Experience and Skills: Minimum two years of recent experience in a hospital microbiology setting, with a strong understanding of microorganisms, serological, and biochemical reactions.
- Strong Interpersonal and Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
