Overview:

  • As a Medical Laboratory Professional at William Osler Health System, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.

Job Summary:

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Medical Laboratory Technologist – Chemistry & Transfusion Medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify laboratory results for accuracy prior to verification; investigate unexpected abnormal and/or spurious results according to laboratory policies, processes, and procedures
  • Perform operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment
  • Monitor quality control results and respond appropriately to discordant results
  • Evaluate specimen collection, integrity, transport, and storage for sample processing and analysis
  • Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up
  • Assist at bone marrow collections; process in-house and send-out test requests
  • Participate in the laboratory quality management system and process improvements
  • Perform other procedures and duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Medical laboratory technologist with CSMLS certification
  • Current registration with CMLTO in good standing
  • Minimum two years recent chemistry experience in a hospital laboratory setting or must demonstrate successful completion of all relevant education within the past two years
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high levels of productivity, competence, and professionalism
  • Able to evaluate and analyze information to facilitate continuous improvement of the laboratory process in the interest of quality patient care
  • Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proven ability to be a team player; strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and Microsoft Office an asset
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
  • May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $62,000 - $80,000 per year (estimated salary range)
