About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer in Training to join our team at Design Works Engineering. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing structural engineering solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze client and project information to prepare structural designs and drawings in accordance with best practices and relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with project engineers to coordinate drawings sets with client expectations, including architectural coordination, value engineering, and industry standard practices.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to prepare 2D drawing sets for construction-level documents in various materials, including wood, steel, concrete, and precast products.
  • Apply Revit to prepare 3D Building Information (BIM) models and export to 2D drawing sets.
  • Coordinate structural design with Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and other project consultants under the direction of the project Engineer.
  • Visit project sites to collect required information and conduct construction reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project engineers.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in structural engineering with a minimum of 25 years of experience. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Experience designing multifamily residential buildings.
  • Basic design experience in wood, structural steel, and/or concrete. Experience with ETABS and SAFE is considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal).
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) in good standing with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
  • Comfortable multitasking and prioritizing tasks without guidance.
  • A natural self-starter with the ability to prioritize, self-schedule, meet tight deadlines, and work with colleagues from various departments, market sectors, and locations.
