Job Summary:

The Heavy Vehicle Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of trucks and trailers. This position will report directly to the Regional Operations Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Diagnose problems with vehicles and schedule repairs
  • Conduct regular diagnostic tests on trucks
  • Perform commercial vehicle inspections and quarterly inspections
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades
  • Operate a forklift
  • Maintain parts inventory and company vehicle

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic with heavy vehicles
  • 310T Certificate of Qualification
  • AZ license considered an asset but not required
  • Associates of Applied Science in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is considered an asset
  • Experience maintaining Cummins diesel, Peterbilt and Freightliner vehicles
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, and brake components
  • Excellent organizational and technical communication skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence and to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities
  • Exceptional work ethic with a positive, analytical, and safe work attitude
  • Basic skills in the use of computer-based programs such as MS 365, and CMMS systems
  • Must be a safety-minded, self-starter, and team player
  • Clean Driver's Abstract with no suspensions
  • Candidates must be able to pass a thorough criminal background check, Fit-for-Duty, and D&A screen to be considered for employment
