AIG is reimagining the way we help customers manage risk, and we're looking for a talented Senior Underwriting Specialist, Ocean Marine to join our team.

About the Role

  1. Provide technical direction to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims adjusting colleagues.
  2. Accept, decline, or modify new and renewal submissions, identifying exposures and analyzing required to underwrite an account.
  3. Manage a book of business and contribute to the budget relative to regional goals.
  4. Establish new business production goals and submission flow relative to the book of business.
  5. Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities.
  6. Develop and implement pricing and negotiation strategy, terms & conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients.
  7. Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
  8. Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity, and inclusion; attract and develop talent.
  9. Maintain and develop a national broker network.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  1. Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency, or Brokerage experience.
  2. Advanced working knowledge of marine coverages, particularly ocean cargo lines of business.
  3. Detail-oriented, critical thinking skills, decision-making based on level of authority, problem-solving, and analytical tool proficiency.
  4. Effective in a dynamic environment, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  5. Strong communication skills, collaboration, and building trust with a wide range of colleagues and clients.
  6. Financial understanding, appetite for learning about the industry, negotiating, and focused on profitability.
  7. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  8. Market knowledge of cargo insurance landscape, including brokers and insurers.
