Job Summary

The Certified Library Technician will provide daily management of the library and maintenance of library resources to ensure maximum use by students and staff. The successful candidate will perform a variety of technical support duties within the school library, requiring an understanding of established and emerging international library standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides bibliographic instruction to students and staff to locate reference sources and instructional materials.
  • Assists students in developing independent habits to locate reference materials and to develop skills in the use of reference materials.
  • Instructs staff and students in the proper use of instructional equipment and software.
  • Collaborates with the Teacher-Librarian in selecting requested resources for students and teachers.
  • Provides Readers' Advisory services for students and staff using techniques such as reading aloud and book talking.
  • Prepares bibliographies to support teaching and learning.
  • Collaborates with the Teacher-Librarian in the production and exhibition of presentations.
  • Collaborates with the Teacher Librarian to inform staff and students of current copyright legislation.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of library standards and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
