Job Title: Casual Library Technician

Job Summary:

The Casual Library Technician will provide support to the school library, ensuring the smooth operation of the library and maintenance of library resources. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Principal and in collaboration with the Teacher-Librarian to manage the library and provide technical support to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide bibliographic instruction to students and staff to locate reference sources and instructional materials.
  • Assist students in developing independent habits to locate reference materials and to develop skills in the use of reference materials.
  • Operate the circulation system and keep complete circulation files.
  • Shelve and maintain library collection using the Dewey Decimal system.
  • Collaborate with the Teacher-Librarian in the selection of resources to purchase for staff and student use.
  • Process new library resources for shelving and circulation.
  • Perform other library-related tasks as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A strong understanding of library procedures and technology is essential.
