Electrical Engineer Job Description

At Stantec, we are committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients and communities. As an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within our Community Development Group, you will play a key role in designing and reviewing electrical plans, coordinating with other shallow utilities, and assisting the project management team on various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering support to the Community Development electrical team.
  • Design and review electrical plans, coordinate with other shallow utilities including telecommunications and gas.
  • Assist the project management team on a variety of projects with tasks such as contract quantity take-offs and production of tender documents for electrical and streetlighting designs.
  • Assist with preparing voltage drop and lighting calculations using Excel and AGI32.
  • Prepare drawings and figures using AutoCAD software to support the team.
  • Communicate with team members from our civil, planning, and landscape groups.
  • Contribute to project meetings with internal team members, external consultants, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in site meetings, construction, and completion inspections.
Qualifications:
  • The candidate will be highly motivated, willing to work in both an individual and team-oriented environment, and ready to participate in a wide variety of projects.
  • The ability to efficiently work and collaborate remotely and in the office.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, AGI32, and Microsoft Teams is an asset.
  • A valid driver's license.
Education and Experience:
  • An Electrical Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • EIT standing with APEGA is required for this Engineer-in-Training position.
