MRI Imaging Specialist

About the Role
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) professional, you will deliver quality care to research participants at SFU's ImageTech facility. You will practice in accordance with the standards of professional practice, use best practices, and work closely with faculty to support the success of the research laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing special procedure examinations.
- Ensuring the care provided is safe.
- Maximizing the potential of the research equipment and resources.
Qualifications
- Current Registration in Magnetic Resonance with CAMRT and three years of related experience.
- Excellent knowledge of MRI techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
- Excellent knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
- Excellent knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology and scanning equipment.
- Good knowledge of current MRI scan theory and practices.
- Good knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Good knowledge of radiology information systems (i.e., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Excellent supervisory skills and ability to manage clinical imaging staff and/or other professionals.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, determine implications, and provide recommendations.
- Ability to recognize potentially dangerous situations and take appropriate action.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, and exercise tact and discretion.
- Ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
- Ability to work effectively with research participants, faculty, and staff, including staff in external agencies.
- Ability to deal with and/or guide others in the resolution of conflict issues.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
- Proficiency in the use of computer applications.
