Cybersecurity Specialist

Halton Region is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and operating security controls as defined in the NIST CSF and relevant industry-specific security frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and investigate escalated security alerts from our MSSP.
  • Monitor and remediate issues or implement controls to mitigate risks due to malware, phishing, and other attacks.
  • Ensure compliance of our information systems and operational procedures with current security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Administer and review security infrastructure, including XDR/EDR/NDR solutions, network security solutions, and GPOs.
  • Monitor and advise on the required adjustments of security controls for on-premise, cloud, and messaging applications.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analysis of critical IT systems and network segmentation controls.
  • Perform other operational security duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Computer Science from a recognized institution.
  • Two or more years of IT security experience.
  • Understanding and experience in Zero Trust Security architecture and its practices.
  • Strong knowledge of network, operating system, cloud, and directory services, especially IAM and PAM/PIM.
  • Experience with common security solutions and Microsoft-based cloud and on-premises directories, OS, applications, and services.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
