Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Radio Systems Engineer to join our team at ALSTOM Gruppe. As a key member of our Network and Telecom design team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and validating network and telecom solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement radio network systems, including licensed and unlicensed voice and data radios, LAN/WAN networks, and back office servers.
  • Develop and execute testing, verification, and validation procedures to ensure system requirements are met.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including System Functional Specifications and Interface Control Documents.
  • Work with the Radio team and assist the Lead System Engineer as needed.
  • Perform capacity analysis for Radio Access Networks and site surveys for potential radio tower locations.
  • Document test results, identify problems and solutions, and communicate with the team.
  • Perform Communications Engineering tasks in support of program objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in networking or telecommunications.
  • 10+ years of experience in radio systems engineering.
  • P. Eng certification or in progress.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of radio access network hardware and link-budget analysis.
  • Experience with radio propagation, analysis, and post-processing tools.
  • Mapping software skills, such as Google Earth, MapInfo, ArcGIS, or Global Mapper.
  • Analysis, system performance improvement, and troubleshooting of radio networks.
  • Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, and drive test equipment experience.
  • Radio technologies, such as P25, cellular, WiFi, TETRA, etc.
  • Design and implementation of radio networks.
  • Writing and performing test cases on radio equipment and radio networks.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN.
  • Knowledge of network security and policies.
