Job Title: AVP, Canadian Product Tax

Manulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider, seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the Canadian Product Tax team.

Job Summary:

The AVP, Canadian Product Tax will be responsible for providing tax advisory services related to Manulife products and customers, as well as overseeing tax compliance related to customer taxation. This role will require strong leadership skills, excellent tax research and analysis skills, and the ability to communicate complex tax issues to a diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Canadian Product Tax team and provide tax advisory services related to Manulife products and customers.
  • Oversee tax compliance related to customer taxation and ensure that all tax requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax risk and maximize tax efficiency.
  • Collaborate with business units and functions to gain awareness of emerging customer and advisor tax issues, projects, and product development.
  • Build relationships with government tax authorities and industry committees to stay up-to-date on tax legislation and regulatory changes.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Canadian tax experience, preferably in customer tax.
  • Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • CPA In-Depth Tax Course.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and products.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with business lines and other legal and tax professionals.
  • Aptitude for new technology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, etc.) and/or Alteryx is an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between: $123,400.00 CAD - $229,300.00 CAD
