Job Title: Development & Investments Associate

About the Role:

The University of Toronto's Real Estate division is seeking a highly skilled Development & Investments Associate to support the execution of its ambitious FourCorners strategy. This role will play a critical part in realizing the University's vision for its real estate assets, driving growth and revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sophisticated financial models and underwrite real estate transactions, including acquisition, development, refinancing, and disposition of mixed-use projects.
  • Participate in meetings with prospective investors and joint-venture business partners, and prepare presentation materials for the University's Governing Council and Real Estate Advisory Committee.
  • Initiate, research, prioritize, and determine appropriate courses of action on matters identified by the Director of Asset Management and the Development Manager.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and expertise on real estate trends, policies, issues, metrics, and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years' experience independently underwriting real estate transactions.
  • Minimum one year of experience working within a commercial real estate firm.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, and intermediate skills with Argus Enterprise or Argus Developer.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational and time management skills.
