Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our Global Finance Reporting team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership and analysis to support business partners across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the delivery of periodic financial reports, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, to ensure timely and accurate data.
  • Prepare and analyze financial data for Global Banking and Markets, including statutory and business line results.
  • Communicate with business units to coordinate and collect financial data, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform reasonability checks on financial results, identifying and resolving material issues in a timely manner.
  • Review and analyze statutory journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness within strict deadlines.
  • Maintain and develop strong controls over operational and analytical processes.
  • Communicate and resolve accounting and reporting issues with business units and management.
  • Liaise with business line Finance partners to maintain knowledge of emerging business issues and effectively resolve them.
  • Participate in projects, such as developing financial metrics and analytical tools, to support Global Finance initiatives.
  • Identify and act upon efficiency opportunities to enhance reporting processes.
  • Support manager and senior manager in efforts to enhance reporting processes.
  • Assist with the annual business line rule set up and chart of account (COFA) management processes.
  • Identify issues and make recommendations for process improvement.
Requirements
  • Accounting designation (Canadian CPA or MBA) with at least 2 years related work experience.
  • Solid business acumen and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities to execute varied activities within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at different levels and a variety of skill sets and organizational perspectives.
  • Good proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service attitude and proactive approach to resolving complex business issues.
  • High level of flexibility to adapt quickly to a dynamic business environment.
