Environmental Forestry Manager

As an Environmental Forestry Manager, you will play a key role in regulating forest industry operations and ensuring compliance on Crown forest lands.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of ecosystem-based forest management principles and legislation related to the utilization and administration of forest resources.

You will work closely with a strong team of operations staff responsible for forest industry operations and provide leadership in the review and approval of forest industry operating plans.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to the well-being of the province.

The salary range for this position is estimated at $43,011 - $55,134 per year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulate forest industry operations and ensure compliance on Crown forest lands
  • Review and approve forest industry operating plans
  • Provide leadership in ecosystem-based forest management practices
  • Work collaboratively with other resource management specialists to develop solutions for forest management challenges
Requirements
  • Degree in forestry or a related field
  • Experience in forest operations including operational planning, harvesting, road construction and decommissioning, water crossing installation and reclamation, and boreal forest silviculture
  • Knowledge of process and policy development, and the strategic planning process
  • Ability to lead public consultations with stakeholders and First Nations and Métis communities

The successful candidate must be committed to workplace health and safety and willing to fulfill working conditions including fieldwork year-round and travel throughout Saskatchewan.
