Job Title: Lead Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Water Resources Engineer to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our Southern Ontario Mine Water Team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in mine surface water engineering, including hydrologic analysis, flood mitigation, river engineering, dam breach assessments, hydraulic infrastructure analysis and design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage technical solutions for surface water projects, including erosion and scour protection, river engineering, stormwater management, and flood mitigation
  • Design surface water management infrastructure from feasibility level to construction documentation, including detailed design, tender documentation, and conducting field reviews
  • Review technical reports and provide senior-level review and approval
  • Develop and pursue opportunities and prepare proposals for new business
  • Continuing professional development to maintain current knowledge of professional standard practice
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, with consulting experience in mine water resources engineering, dam breach assessments, design and construction of hydraulic infrastructure, and assessments related to hydrology and flood assessment/mitigation
  • Valid professional designation in at least Ontario
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in water resources consulting projects and a minimum of 5 years of experience in mine water resources
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, communication, mentoring, and people skills
  • High degree of motivation, strategic planning, and ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines and budgets
  • Strong client relationships and industry connections
  • Committed to technical excellence and ability to write proposals and technical reports
