We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer to join our team at ADGA Group Consultants Inc. in Ottawa, Canada.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation for our Military Command and Control systems. This includes writing and editing technical documents, designing document layouts, and translating technical documentation between official languages.
Key Responsibilities:- Write and/or summarize technical documents for various audiences, including engineering, system managers, and end-users.
- Design document layouts and apply specific formatting specifications.
- Translate technical documentation and technical data package material between official languages.
- Review documentation standards and existing project documentation.
- Determine documentation requirements and plan to meet them.
- Assess audience needs and prepare statements of purpose and scope for each document.
- Develop tables of contents and write or edit required content.
- Document help text, user manuals, technical documentation, web page content, and more.
- Translate technical documentation and technical data package material between official languages.
- Gather information on system features and functions.
- Investigate information accuracy by using documented material.
- Prepare or coordinate the preparation of required illustrations and diagrams.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation in various formats and tools.
- Advise on technical document appropriateness, applicability, and effectiveness.
- Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in technical writing.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in technical writing on Military Command and Control systems.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing business correspondence and reports in Information Technology.
- Demonstrated experience with technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in Information Technology/Information management or engineering.
- Proof of University Degree or College Diploma in any discipline.
- Experience providing advice and/or guidance on technical writing issues.
- Experience providing verbal briefings/presentations on technical topics.
- Experience planning, researching, gathering information, and authoring technical documentation.
- Experience proofreading technical documents created by others.
- Experience analyzing material to explain requirements clearly and concisely.
