Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Biochemistry Laboratory team at UHN. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas, preparing written and electronic reports, and participating in teaching, educational, safety, and quality improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas to ensure accurate and efficient test results.
- Prepare written and electronic reports to document procedures and test results, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
- Participate in teaching, educational, safety, and quality improvement programs to enhance knowledge and skills, and contribute to a culture of excellence.
- Observe and understand hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and apply them in daily work activities.
Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program.
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO).
- One (1) year recent laboratory experience in a large hospital Biochemistry Laboratory, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop skills and knowledge in all areas of the laboratory, with on-the-job experience.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment, and special techniques, in assigned areas.
- Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management skills, with ability to organize work and set priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions.
- Knowledge of applicable hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, and practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
- Ability to coach technical staff.
