Job Summary:

SaskPower is seeking enthusiastic individuals to fill Powerline Technician Apprentice positions. As a Powerline Technician Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop skills in constructing, repairing, and maintaining power pole lines and underground cable systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn to construct, repair, and maintain power pole lines and underground cable systems
  • Develop basic climbing skills, safety procedures, tool/material use, and operation of "Powered Mobile Equipment"
  • Work outside in various weather conditions
  • Work at heights
  • Handle large, bulky, and heavy materials or equipment
Requirements:
  • Meet the Provincial Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Standards
  • Be eligible to meet the Saskatchewan equivalent Entrance Requirements for Apprenticeship Training
  • Assessments, upgrades, and/or equivalencies may be required
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
  • Must be willing to relocate anywhere in the province
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Please note that this position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067. Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in an assessment process consisting of any/all of the following: interview, abilities test, case study, and/or presentation.
