Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in providing advanced clinical care to clients and residents in community and long-term care settings. This position requires a strong foundation in nursing and medical theory, with a focus on promoting healthy living, preventing illness and injury, and clinically managing acute and chronic illnesses.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate health and illness concerns within the context of client and resident experiences and the determinants of health.
- Perform advanced comprehensive and focused health assessments, ordering investigative procedures such as x-rays and lab tests as needed.
- Communicate with clients and residents about health findings, discuss outcomes and prognosis, and continually monitor response to chosen treatment plans.
- Carry out advanced therapeutic interventions, such as minor surgical and invasive procedures, essential for clinical management.
- Encourage maximum independence and accountability for self-care, applying principles of harm reduction and promoting wellness.
- Consult with specialists as needed, referring clients to appropriate programs and services, and participating in team and client care conferences.
- Apply accepted theories of family dynamics, interactions, and role expectations while managing the care of individuals and families.
- Document clinical care in a timely, accurate, and relevant manner, completing statistical data and reports as required.
- Participate in and contribute to research relevant to practice, utilizing research findings in clinical practice and providing clinical supervision, education, and mentoring for graduate nursing students and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong foundation in nursing and medical theory, with a focus on advanced clinical care.
