Join Our Team as a Visionary Leader

The Elizabeth River Project is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Executive Director to lead our organization in restoring the Elizabeth River through equitable collaboration with diverse communities, businesses, and governments.

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned leader with a track record of experience in leading nonprofit organizations or comparable entities. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to find common ground among diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the organization in achieving its mission and goals
  • Develop and implement strategies for fundraising, community engagement, and environmental restoration
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, staff, and stakeholders to advance the organization's objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners, donors, and community leaders
  • Ensure the organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and environmental justice
Requirements
  • At least five years of experience at the executive level in leading a nonprofit organization or a comparable organization
  • Proven fundraising experience with demonstrated success in cultivating donor relations and securing large private and public gifts
  • Excellent public relations and communications skills
  • Commitment to advancing DEI efforts, both internally and externally
  • A sound understanding of environmental science and education
What We Offer

The annual salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $135,000, commensurate with experience. The comprehensive benefits package includes health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, 2.5% match on 403(b) plan, employee assistance program, medical and family leave, personal leave, generous paid time off, and 12 paid holidays.
