About the DepartmentThe Department of Indigenous Learning is an interdisciplinary program that fosters a deep understanding of Indigenous intellectual traditions and Indigenous/settler relations. Our faculty and students engage in cutting-edge research and innovative pedagogical practices, with a focus on community relationships and experiential learning.
Key Responsibilities- Teach and develop courses in Indigenous Studies, with a focus on community-based learning and experiential education;
- Conduct research that contributes to the advancement of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations;
- Participate in departmental and faculty service, including curriculum development and program evaluation.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Indigenous Studies or a related field, with a strong background in community-based research and teaching. Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations is essential, as is a commitment to innovative pedagogical practices and experiential learning.
Lived experience as an Indigenous person with strong ties to Indigenous nation(s) and Indigenous knowledges is considered a significant asset.
