We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Part Time Front Line Service Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army Ottawa Booth Centre. As a key member of our front-line staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional service to our clients and supporting the overall operations of the Centre.
Key Responsibilities- Client Services
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing accessible and available support
- Assess client needs and develop effective plans to address their goals and objectives
- Monitor client progress and provide regular updates to the coordinator
- Refer clients to appropriate Centre and community resources as needed
- Safety and Security
- Implement emergency procedures as necessary to ensure the safety and security of clients and staff
- Maintain radio contact with other residential services and perform regular radio checks
- Enforce Centre residency guidelines impartially and implement consequence measures as needed
- Provide emergency backup to other Centre services and programs
- Support Services
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports and log notes
- Perform regular facility checks and report maintenance concerns to the Manager of Residential Services
- Attend to housekeeping duties and participate in planning and evaluating Centre services
- This is a permanent part-time position working Saturday and Sunday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
- May deal with angry and abusive clients
- May encounter verbal abuse
- May be required to deal with client overdose and other medical situations
- Relevant post-secondary education in social work or a related field
- Minimum 1-3 years' experience working with hard-to-serve populations with addictions and/or mental health issues
- Knowledge of client community and community resources
- Experience administering Narcan and/or Narcan training is a strong asset
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Some computer skills in word processing and database management
- Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully
A non-negotiable starting salary of $19.61, increasing to $20.14 at successful completion of the probationary period
