About the Role

The University of Toronto is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Director of Information Technology. As a key member of the Chief Administrative Officer's senior leadership team, you will be responsible for empowering a team of 30+ staff to drive cross-functional collaboration on all major information, research and education technology projects and operations within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the goals and priorities of the Faculty in University-wide initiatives and on related city, provincial and national committees and organizations.
  • Contribute to the Faculty's strategic priorities and promote the appropriate use of information technology to enhance all aspects of education, research and administration streams.
  • Foster a culture of cybersecurity and ensure the Faculty's security safeguards support the protection of digital assets.
  • Lead and support the development of high-functioning teams through transformation, including the ability to motivate and mentor staff and foster an inclusive and supportive culture.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote continuous improvement, remain ahead of technological advancements, and deliver high-quality, client-focused IT services.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Ten years' experience in information and/or education technology operations, with at least five years in a senior management role.
  • Proven experience leading and supporting the development of high-functioning teams through transformation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of emerging trends in the use of education technologies, networks, distance education initiatives and diverse computer platforms in education.
  • Strong financial acumen, including financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
  • Proven successful change leader with the ability to motivate, drive and achieve results.
