Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Critical Care Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit at Sechelt Hospital. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will provide emergency nursing care to clients/patients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of symptoms within an uncontrolled environment, as well as care to critically ill patients/clients with unpredictable outcomes attached to life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care to clients/patients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of symptoms within an uncontrolled environment.
- Care to critically ill patients/clients with unpredictable outcomes attached to life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery.
- As a member of the emergency response team, stabilize and resuscitate multi-trauma victims, and prepare for and respond to disaster situations.
- Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
- Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers.
- Demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence.
- Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia, and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies, and imaging services.
Qualifications
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required.
- Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or completion of a recognized advanced program in emergency care nursing or two (2) years' recent, related experience.
