About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, Mental Health & Addictions, the incumbent will work with inpatient units to provide occupational therapy services as part of a multidisciplinary treatment plan and consistent with the principles of recovery.

Job Description

This role involves working with patients to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote occupational performance and overall well-being. The successful candidate will have experience in developing and providing group and individual psychoeducation, completing functional assessments, and building client capacity to promote occupational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with mental health conditions
  • Provide occupational therapy services to inpatients on a multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Conduct functional assessments to identify patient needs and abilities
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited University
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
  • Registered member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia
  • Experience in developing and providing group and individual psychoeducation
  • Demonstrated skills in completing functional assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to build client capacity to promote occupational performance
