We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our research group at Habitat, a leading environmental research company. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative biodiversity monitoring and modelling tools to track change in restored and protected forest sites across the Saint Lawrence Lowlands.
The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with our team of experts to design and implement novel approaches for monitoring spatio-temporal biodiversity change using multiple sources of field and remotely derived biological or ecological information. The successful candidate will also develop and apply integrated, multi-scale modelling workflows using R, Julia, and/or Python to track biodiversity change across spatial scales.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled researcher to contribute to a federally and provincially supported research program on 'Monitoring for success: Developing a connectivity-based biodiversity modeling framework and monitoring plan'. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research laboratory at McGill University and work alongside a team of experts in biodiversity conservation, ecology, and computer programming.
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
- Conception of novel techniques to link multiple sources of biological and ecological information across scales to track biodiversity change
- Development of integrated modelling workflows using Python, Julia, and/or R
- Report writing and manuscript preparation in collaboration with supervisors
- Training of graduate students and contribution to ongoing projects with industry partners
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biodiversity conservation, ecology, and computer programming, with experience working with multiple sources of biological information and programming languages such as Python, Julia, or R. The successful candidate will also have high fluency in programming languages and experience with management and analysis of large spatial datasets.

- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline within the last three years
